Police are appealing for information after a man approached an eight-year-old boy near a playground on Marsden Road in Portsmouth on 26 June between 5pm and 5:30pm.
Officers have released an image of a man they wish to speak to regarding the suspicious incident that occurred near the playground area.
During the encounter, the young boy shouted at the man, who subsequently left the location.
Police have described the individual as a white male, approximately 20 to 30 years of age, standing around 5ft 9in tall with a slim build and short dark brown hair.
The man also had distinctive tattoos visible on his left arm and the right side of his neck.
Hampshire Constabulary have issued the photograph as part of their ongoing enquiries into the incident.
