Police seek public help in Hedge End shoplifting case
Hampshire Police are appealing for information about a man and woman seen on CCTV during a shoplifting incident at Next on Tollbar Way, Hedge End, on 3 September between 1.10pm and 1.25pm. The pair allegedly stole £320 of children’s clothing. Anyone who can identify them is asked to contact the force.
Man sentenced to two years for £5,000 shoplifting spree
Dylan Doran, 43, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to 31 shoplifting offences across Southampton, Portsmouth and Hedge End between March 2025 and August 2026. He stole goods worth about £5,095.50 and was sentenced at Southampton Crown Court on 9 October to two years’ imprisonment and a Criminal Behaviour Order banning him from numerous county shops.
Five Community Protection Warnings issued after rural poaching incidents
On 10 October, police stopped a silver 4x4 near Ford Lane, Upton Grey, after reports it was firing ball‑bearing catapults at wildlife; three Surrey teenagers, aged 16‑17, received Community Protection Warnings. The next night, officers in Tadley seized poaching equipment from a vehicle near Bullington Cross, issuing warnings to two 20‑year‑olds from Swanmore and Eastleigh.
46‑Year‑Old Man Arrested for Indecent Exposure on Clarence Parade
Police were alerted at 1:00 am on Thursday 14 October to a man exposing himself on Clarence Parade, Southsea, at about 12:30 am. A 46‑year‑old Portsmouth resident was arrested on suspicion of exposure and outraging public decency and released on bail until 14 January 2027 while enquiries continue.
Police seek public help to locate Peter James Evans
Police are searching for 37‑year‑old Peter James Evans of Bournemouth, Dorset, wanted in connection with a dwelling burglary in New Milton last month. He is believed to be in the New Forest or East Dorset area. The public is asked to contact Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary or Crimestoppers with information.
Fatal collision on M27 eastbound kills motorcyclist
Police were called at 6.39 am to a fatal collision on the eastbound M27 between junctions 11 and 12. A white Triumph motorcycle was involved and the rider, a man in his 60s, died at the scene. The eastbound carriageway between junctions 9 and 12 remains closed while investigators seek witnesses and dash‑cam footage.
Police Renew Appeal in 1989 Southampton Murder
Detectives have reopened the 1989 killing of 36‑year‑old Richard “Ricky” Haywood, who was shot in his flat above Ambiance Jewellers on Shirley Road, Southampton, on 16 October. No one has been charged and the family urges anyone with information to contact police as the 37th anniversary approaches.
Missing 30‑year‑old Jason Jacob from Southampton
Police are seeking information on Jason Jacob, 30, who was last seen at about 6 p.m. on 14 October in the Chandler’s Ford area. He is of Indian descent, approximately 5 ft 10 in tall with black hair. Anyone with details should call 999 quoting reference 44260507613.
31‑year‑old jailed for 25 shoplifting offences in Aldershot
Amy Bell, 31, of Grosvenor Road, Aldershot, pleaded guilty to 25 counts of theft after stealing food and drinks worth over £1,200 from a Co‑op on North Lane in September and £100 of fish from Sainsbury’s on Ash Road on 4 October. She was sentenced to 12 weeks’ imprisonment at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on 8 October.
23‑year‑old jailed for three years over Farnborough knife and bat attack
Billy‑Roy Guilfoyle‑Gregory, 23, of Alison Close, Farnborough, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent after a group attacked a man in his 20s on Ratcliffe Road on 30 June. The victim suffered stab wounds and a serious head injury. Guilfoyle‑Gregory received a three‑year term at Winchester Crown Court on 6 October.
Police seek 19‑year‑old Mickey Kimber in Fareham burglary probe
Hampshire Constabulary are searching for 19‑year‑old Michael “Mickey” Kimber of Portsmouth, wanted in connection with a residential burglary investigation after an incident in Fareham last month. He is described as a white male, about 5 ft 9 in tall, with long ginger hair tied in a ponytail. People are asked to provide information to the force or Crimestoppers.
Man, 39, pleads guilty to ten shoplifting offences in Aldershot
Shaun Mason, 39, of Barn Avenue, Aldershot, admitted ten counts of theft after police recovered items worth £532 stolen from One Stop and Co‑op on North Lane between August and October. He was charged at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on 12 October, released on bail with conditions and awaits sentencing on 23 December.
Chief Inspector Clare Denyer appointed Test Valley District Commander
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary announced that Chief Inspector Clare Denyer took up the role of District Commander for Test Valley in August 2026, succeeding Chief Inspector Sharath Ranjan, who moved to Basingstoke. Denyer brings 23 years of service, previously leading the Professional Standards Department and focusing on violence against women and police misconduct.
Shoplifter jailed and banned from major retailers
Karl Jennings, 39, pleaded guilty to theft from a shop, assault by beating and common assault after stealing meat from an Aldi in Farnborough on 11 November. He received a 23‑week prison term and a two‑year criminal behaviour order banning him from all Aldi, Boots and One Stop stores nationwide.
Man attacked with bleach on Wells Lane, Whitchurch
At about 1.10pm on Friday 9 October, a man in his 60s was sitting in a van on Wells Lane, Whitchurch, when a hooded individual threw a liquid, believed to be bleach, onto his shoulder. The substance burned his upper back and he was later treated in hospital. Police are seeking witnesses.
Police seek Michael Cairncross over June assault
Hampshire Constabulary are searching for 36-year-old Michael Cairncross, wanted in connection with criminal damage, harassment and an assault in Millbrook on 1 June that left the victim with ABH-level injuries. Officers believe he may be in the Millbrook area of Southampton and ask anyone with information to contact police immediately.
Man Charged with Public Order Offence in Church Crookham
Police received a report that a 36‑year‑old man threatened a woman in her 30s on Brandon Road on 28 September, also claiming he would take her cat and acting aggressively. He was arrested on 10 October, bailed with conditions and will appear at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on 17 November.
34‑year‑old Charged with Robbery and Shoplifting in Hythe
Jack Charlie Lodge, 34, of Charnwood Close, Totton, was charged with robbery and shoplifting after police investigated a May 1 incident at the One Stop store on Fairview Parade, Hythe. The offence involved the theft of alcohol and threats to a staff member. He is on bail and will appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on 10 November.
Teen Cyclist Injured After SUV Fails to Stop on St Denys Road
Police are seeking witnesses after a 15-year-old cyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a dark SUV on St Denys Road near Cobden Bridge on Sunday at 2.55pm. The eastbound SUV did not stop after the impact, and the teenager was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police seek 37‑year‑old Nicholas Joslin after Southampton assault
Police are searching for Nicholas Joslin, 37, following an assault on a woman at a Laburnum Road address in Southampton on 15 July. The incident was reported just after 2 pm, resulting in minor injuries. Officers continue enquiries and ask the public to report any sightings.
