Two men have been charged with Class A drug supply offences in Winchester following separate proactive police stops in the city centre over the weekend of 15–17 May 2026.
In the first incident, officers in a marked patrol car observed a vehicle being driven erratically at around 9pm on Friday 15 May. The vehicle was stopped on St Cross Road, where a search of the driver led to the seizure of 13 wraps of white powder suspected to be cocaine, along with approximately £660 in cash found in a bag. A further wrap of suspected cocaine and additional cash were subsequently recovered from a related address in Southampton.
Petru Boiasu, 42, of Wimpson Lane, Southampton, has been charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A controlled drug. He appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Monday 18 May.
In a separate incident during the early hours of Sunday 17 May, officers on patrol stopped a man riding a pushbike in Fellowes Rise. A search led to the discovery of 15 wraps of cocaine and around £180 in cash. The man was subsequently arrested.
Ivan Makaveev, 50, of no fixed abode, has been charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A controlled drug. He was also due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Monday 18 May.
