Hampshire Police are seeking witnesses after a serious assault in Portsmouth left a man in his fifties hospitalised with a severe head injury. A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
Officers were called to Laburnum Grove at 6.42pm following reports of the incident. The victim, a man in his fifties, sustained serious head injuries during the assault and was taken to hospital for medical treatment.
A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in police custody.
Detectives believe a male witness may have been present at the scene and are appealing for him to come forward. Police are also asking anyone else with information about the incident to contact them.
