Pompey promote Judges to chief commercial officer

Portsmouth Football Club have announced the promotion of Mark Judges to chief commercial officer. Judges steps up from his previous role as director of sales, which he has held since joining Pompey in February 2023 from Sussex Cricket.

The club have confirmed that Judges, who previously served as commercial director at Sussex Cricket, has been instrumental in significantly enhancing Portsmouth’s commercial performance and revenue generation since his arrival at Fratton Park.

In his new position, Judges will have responsibility for all commercial revenue streams, encompassing sponsorship, hospitality, ticketing and non-matchday conferencing and events. His remit will also include strategic oversight of the club’s marketing and communications operations, ensuring alignment of brand strategy, supporter engagement and digital expansion across all platforms.

The newly-appointed chief commercial officer will collaborate closely with the club’s board and chief executive Andrew Cullen, alongside the broader senior leadership team, to determine Portsmouth FC’s long-term strategic commercial pathway.

Judges commented: “It is a tremendous privilege to assume the position of chief commercial officer at this historic football club and I am exceptionally proud to be trusted with this responsibility.

“Since joining Pompey, I have concentrated on expanding commercial revenue and enhancing the club’s commercial performance – whilst consistently placing supporters at the centre of our decision-making process.

“Whether it involves establishing long-term, value-driven partnerships or maximising Fratton Park’s potential, my objective has been to achieve sustainable growth whilst never losing sight of our fundamental values and the significance of our devoted fanbase.

“I look forward to continuing my close collaboration with Andrew Cullen, the board, and my colleagues throughout the club as we continue building upon the momentum of recent seasons and achieving success both on and off the pitch.”

Chief executive Andrew Cullen remarked: “I am thrilled to confirm Mark’s promotion to chief commercial officer and we anticipate him building upon his achievements to date.

“I am enthusiastic that Mark will be spearheading the continued development, growth and alignment of our commercial operations, whilst delivering impactful, meaningful supporter engagement and service excellence to everyone dedicated to Portsmouth Football Club and Pompey Women.”
