Gosport man jailed six years for stabbing woman six times

A teenager has been jailed for six years after stabbing a woman six times in Gosport. Teejay Scott, 19, of The Anchorage, was sentenced at Portsmouth Crown Court following the brutal attack last July.

Scott received his sentence at Portsmouth Crown Court on Tuesday, 15th July 2025, after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing a knife in public. He was previously acquitted of attempted murder at an earlier hearing.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 28th July 2024, when Scott became involved in a dispute with a 28-year-old woman on Gosport High Street. Approximately one hour later, just before 4am, he assaulted the victim close to Walpole Park, where she had gone to catch a lift. Scott fled immediately after the attack.

The victim contacted emergency services and received treatment for six stab wounds at Queen Alexandra Hospital, requiring surgical intervention.

Detective Constable Ethan Beesley, who led the investigation, commented: “Scott’s sentence in a Young Offender’s Institution, which houses individuals under twenty-one, is substantial and demonstrates our zero tolerance towards violence against women and girls, as well as knife crime across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

“Fortunately, the victim’s injuries weren’t life-threatening, though Scott’s actions could have resulted in far more severe consequences. I sincerely hope this sentence enables the victim to move forward, knowing justice has been achieved. Nobody should experience threats or violence during a night out. While this represents an extreme case, we collaborate closely with partner organisations and licensed venues to maintain safe night-time environments in our communities.

“We remain committed to ensuring knife carriers face full accountability for their actions.”
