Drug dealer jailed for 2.5 years after Aldershot cocaine find

A 30-year-old drug dealer has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison after police discovered cocaine concealed in his sock during a suspicious vehicle search in Aldershot in March this year.

Police officers conducting patrols on Grosvenor Road observed suspicious behaviour from the driver of a black Mercedes at approximately 3:10am on Friday, 8 March 2024.

Following the suspicious circumstances, officers conducted a search of the vehicle, discovering £375 in cash, a single wrap of cocaine, and two mobile phones.

A personal search of the driver revealed 18 wraps of cocaine that had been concealed inside a sock worn beneath his underwear.

Iurie Gavrilita, aged 30, from Dore Close, Northampton, was subsequently charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A controlled substance.

Following his guilty plea, Gavrilita received a sentence of two years and six months at Northampton Crown Court on Friday, 27 June.

Detective Constable Luke Kedge commented: “Drug activity is treated with the utmost seriousness, and I am pleased that this sentencing removes another dealer from our streets.

“This outcome demonstrates that our officers will utilise every available resource to ensure Hart and Rushmoor areas are not exploited by drug networks.

“Drug supply brings harm and suffering to our communities. Our officers remain committed to relentlessly pursuing these criminals to minimise their detrimental impact on local residents, ensuring safety for all.”
