Woman gets 16 weeks jail for Aldershot shop theft

A Farnham woman has been sentenced to 16 weeks in prison after stealing meat products from an Aldershot supermarket whilst breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order that banned her from entering the town.

Abbie Folkes, aged 32, from East Street, Farnham, took meat items valued at £104.72 from the Lidl store located in the Wellington Centre on Saturday, 17th May.

The theft occurred whilst Folkes was subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order that prohibited her from entering Aldershot until December 2028.

Folkes admitted charges of shop theft and breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order when she appeared before Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 19th June, where she received the custodial sentence.

Police Sergeant Rob Tiller from Aldershot Neighbourhood Policing Team commented: “We recognise that Abbie Folkes’ behaviour has significantly affected local businesses, retail staff and the broader community.

“Despite being subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order that barred her from Aldershot for five years, she deliberately disregarded this restriction and continued entering the area to commit offences.

“We treat every shoplifting report with utmost seriousness, and I trust this outcome provides reassurance to residents that we are committed to bringing offenders before the courts.”
