Air ambulance lands near Portsmouth city centre amid police incident

An air ambulance landed close to Portsmouth city centre during an emergency incident that also saw police in attendance on Saturday morning around 12:30am near Arundel Street.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance touched down in the vicinity of Arundel Street at approximately half past midnight on Saturday, before departing roughly an hour afterwards.

During the same period, two unmarked police vehicles were observed in the nearby Northam Street. When questioned, police declined to specify their exact activities in the location, merely stating it was connected to “routine enquiries”.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has since confirmed their deployment at 12:04am to respond to an “incident”. A spokesperson explained: “The Critical Care Team comprising a doctor and a specialist paramedic administered treatment to a patient before accompanying them to hospital via road ambulance.”
