Murder inquiry launched after woman found dead at Portsmouth house

Police have launched a murder investigation after discovering a woman’s body at a Portsmouth residence on Thursday morning. Officers were called to Wadham Road, North End, at 7:37am following the grim discovery.

A significant police operation unfolded on Wadham Road around 7:30am, with a white forensic tent erected in the front garden of the property whilst officers conducted their investigation.

Police have confirmed they are treating the woman’s death as “suspicious”. Authorities have not yet disclosed details regarding her age or whether she resided at the property. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

Approximately five police vehicles were observed in the street during the evening, with officers conducting door-to-door enquiries in surrounding roads, including North End Avenue.

A police spokesperson confirmed the investigation to The News, stating: “We were called at 7:37am on Thursday 5 June to a report that the body of a woman had been located at a house on Wadham Road in Portsmouth.

“Our investigation is ongoing to establish what happened, the death is currently being treated as suspicious. The Neighbourhood Policing Team will be carrying out regular patrols in the area and anyone with questions or concerns can speak to these uniformed officers.
