Portsmouth faces thunderstorm warning Friday to Saturday

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Portsmouth from Friday 3pm until Saturday 6am, with thunderstorms and heavy rain expected to cause potential flooding and transport disruptions across the area.

A yellow weather alert remains in effect from 3pm Friday through to 6am Saturday morning.

“Thunderstorms may cause some disruption during Friday and overnight into Saturday,” the Met Office stated.

Residents have been advised of the following potential impacts:

Heavy rainfall and sudden flooding may create hazardous driving conditions and possible road closures
A slight possibility exists that certain communities could become isolated due to flooded roadways
Lightning strikes and flooding may result in delays and potential cancellations to rail and bus services
