Ryley Towler has completed his permanent move to Lincoln City from Portsmouth for an undisclosed fee, bringing an end to his two-and-a-half-year stay at Fratton Park.
The 23-year-old centre-back departs after making 45 appearances for Pompey, netting four goals since his arrival from Bristol City in January 2023.
Towler’s standout performance in a Portsmouth shirt came in February 2023, when he scored twice in a memorable 3-1 home triumph against Bolton Wanderers.
Portsmouth manager John Mousinho expressed his disappointment at losing the defender, saying: “Ryley was popular with fans, players and staff alike, so we’re certainly sad to see him go.
“He never gave anything less than 100 per cent during our time working together and we all wish him well for the future.”
Mousinho added: “But this move gives him the opportunity to hopefully play more regularly and I’m confident his career will continue to grow.

The Bristol-born defender came through the Robins’ youth system and gained valuable experience during various loan spells before making the switch to the south coast.
Towler played a role in Portsmouth’s historic 2023/24 League One championship-winning campaign, which secured the club’s return to the Championship after a 12-year absence.
During the previous season, he made 12 league appearances and found the net in Portsmouth’s dominant 4-0 New Year’s Day victory over Swansea City at Fratton Park.
