A new adventure playground has opened at Lepe Country Park, featuring D-Day heritage inspired equipment including climbing frames, zip line, and lighthouse structure with slide, just in time for summer holidays.
Families visiting Lepe Country Park this summer can now enjoy a brand-new adventure playground that has been thoughtfully designed to reflect the area’s D-Day history and stunning coastal setting.
The innovative play area boasts an exciting obstacle course complete with tunnels, climbing apparatus, and a zip line, alongside traditional swings and a dedicated den-building zone. A standout feature is the ‘Lepe Lighthouse’ installation, which includes a scramble net, firefighter’s pole, and slide for children to explore.
The development received £100,000 through New Forest District Council’s Community Infrastructure Levy grant, with Hampshire County Council providing additional backing for the project.
Councillor Kirsty North, Hampshire County Council’s Cabinet Lead for Universal Services, commented: “I’m thrilled to unveil this wonderful new play facility at Lepe Country Park. Carefully planned to complement the natural surroundings, it provides an engaging experience for youngsters of all ages, opening perfectly timed for the summer break. Lepe offers an excellent destination for a special family day out – from building sandcastles on the shore to discovering beautiful coastal paths, enjoying outdoor dining, or refreshing at the site’s Lookout café.”
Councillor Derek Tipp, New Forest District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Planning and Economy, stated: “We’ve contributed £100,000 towards this new play facility at Lepe Country Park. The investment originated from local infrastructure Community Infrastructure Levy funding allocated in April 2024.

These grants provide opportunities to finance essential infrastructure requested by local communities in areas where it’s most required to benefit our residents. We anticipate hearing how this nature play area will be utilised going forward and we’re confident it will remain a year-round community resource for both residents and tourists.”
Lepe represents one of five country parks under Hampshire County Council’s management, providing spectacular coastal panoramas, walking routes, dining facilities, and now enhanced family entertainment options.
