A woman has admitted manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility following the death of a two-year-old girl discovered at Kingsley Pond in East Hampshire.
Alice Mackey, 42, from Gibbs Lane in Oakhanger, entered the plea at Winchester Crown Court yesterday (Monday 28 July). She has been remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing on 6 October 2025 before sentencing.
Police were alerted at 5.02pm on Sunday, 10 September 2023, after two-year-old Annabel Mackey was reported missing from her home in Forge Road, Kingsley.

Annabel was discovered shortly afterwards at Kingsley Pond, where she was found unresponsive. She was rushed to hospital in a critical condition but tragically died the following afternoon on Monday, 11 September.
The Major Crime Team conducted a thorough investigation into Annabel’s death, examining her movements prior to being located at the pond.
Mackey will return to Winchester Crown Court in October for the pre-sentencing hearing.
