A 28-year-old man has been charged with robbery after an electric bicycle was stolen during an assault in Basingstoke last month, Hampshire Police have confirmed.
Police received reports that a victim was attacked and had his electric bicycle taken on Vivian Road on 12 July.
Following an investigation, officers arrested a suspect on 20 July. During the arrest, it was reported that a police constable was assaulted and there was an attempted attack on a police vehicle.
Jake Hutchinson, aged 28 and of no fixed address, has been charged with five offences:
- Robbery
- Assault of a police constable in execution of duty
- Using threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour causing harassment, alarm or distress
- Attempted criminal damage to property under £5,000
- Possession of a Class B controlled substance
Hutchinson is scheduled to appear before Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court today (22 July).
