Relatives of 32-year-old Samantha Murphy have honoured their ‘bright, smiling soul’ who ‘filled their lives with laughter and light’ following the discovery of her body at a property in the city last week.

Additionally, a 32-year-old from Petersfield and another 32-year-old from Havant were previously detained on murder charges and have since been granted conditional bail until 5th September.
Speaking on behalf of the family and friends today (Tuesday, 10th June), Samantha’s sister released this statement: “Sammie-Jo, our bright, smiling soul, brought joy to all who knew her.
“She was a dedicated mother to her three lovely children, the cheerful youngest sister who filled her siblings’ lives with laughter and brightness, and the loving aunt who cherished her nieces and nephews.
“Sam was the person everyone turned to for guidance and understanding. As our welcoming host during Halloween and Christmas, Sam’s house was perpetually filled with warmth and happiness.
“She possessed determination and strength, yet her compassion always prevailed, consistently finding the best in people.
“Sam cherished music and dance, truly representing the heart and spirit of any gathering. Her vocal talent, particularly her rendition of Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back to Black’, consistently earned praise and acclaim.

“That playful and cheeky nature she possessed as our youngest sister remained unchanged; it defined her character, along with her distinctive giggle, which brought us joy throughout her life.
“Her passing has created an enormous emptiness. For her mother, it represents losing not only a daughter but also a closest friend and daily companion. Her siblings, who shared such a unique and precious relationship with Sam, are completely heartbroken by this unthinkable loss.
“We find solace knowing Sam would wish for her family and friends to unite, ensuring her children remain protected and embraced by the love she freely shared.
“With love from your mum Denise, your three precious children, elder sisters Louise, Jodie and Kelly, big brother Carl and brother-in-law Ollie, your dear friends Marissa, Emma and Charlene, and from your father Phillip.”
