Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to over fraud incidents involving counterfeit £50 notes at shops in Lymington and New Milton on Tuesday 20 May.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary are appealing for help to identify the individual following reports of attempted fraudulent purchases using fake £50 notes at various retailers.
The incidents took place between 10am and 4pm, with reports suggesting the suspect either used or tried to use counterfeit currency to buy goods from multiple stores across both towns.
Officers have described the man they wish to speak with as:
- White male
- Between 30-40 years old
- Large build
- Dark facial hair
- Wearing a bandage on his left arm at the time
Police believe the person shown in the CCTV footage could assist with their enquiries and are urging him to come forward. They’re also asking anyone who recognises the individual to make contact.

Witnesses who saw the incidents, noticed suspicious activity in the areas during the timeframe, or have relevant CCTV, mobile phone, dashcam or doorbell camera footage are also being asked to get in touch.
