A 35-year-old man has been arrested following a serious assault investigation on a footpath in Basingstoke. The incident on Winterthur Way left a victim requiring hospital treatment for significant head injuries.
Police were contacted at 7:09pm on Thursday 19th June following reports of a disturbance involving three men and a woman near blocks 1-53.
A man in his twenties suffered serious head injuries along with facial and eye trauma during the incident. He was transported to hospital for treatment and has subsequently been discharged.
The following day, Friday 20th June, a 35-year-old Basingstoke resident was detained on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The suspect has been released on conditional police bail until Saturday 20th September whilst further enquiries continue.

Investigating officers are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.
