Portsmouth and Hampshire families have announced the passing of 14 residents, with funeral services scheduled across the region throughout May and June 2026, including ceremonies at Portchester Crematorium, Portsmouth Cathedral, and local churches.
Trevor Pearman, 70
Trevor Pearman, born 5th September 1955, passed away on 1st May 2026, aged 70. His funeral service will be held at Portchester Crematorium, Upper Cornaway Lane, Portchester, PO16 8NE, on Wednesday 27th May 2026 at 1pm.
Dennis ‘Den’ William Patten, 86
Dennis William Patten, known affectionately as Den, passed away on 6th May 2026, aged 86. Born on 16th August 1939, his funeral service will take place at Portchester Crematorium, South Chapel, on Thursday 4th June 2026 at 10.45am.

Patricia ‘Pat’ Barber, 87
Patricia “Pat” Barber, born 22nd September 1938, passed away peacefully on Friday 8th May 2026 at Alton Place Residential Home, with her beloved daughters Joanne and Trudie at her side. She was 87 years old.
Born in Scarborough to William E. Hopwood and Kitty Paget Rogers, Pat was the devoted wife of John, a loving mother to Joanne and Trudie, and a cherished grandmother to Francesca. She is also survived by nieces Sarah, Lynda and Julia, sister-in-law Josie and Mick, sons-in-law Des and Damon, and a wide circle of treasured friends.
Pat worked tirelessly in roles supporting children and families across Scarborough, and was known throughout her community for her warmth, kindness, and generous spirit. In later life, she and John moved to Petersfield to be closer to family, before Pat moved to Alton Place Residential Home, where she continued to enjoy singing and taking part in activities. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Ann Louisa Irvine, 84
Ann Louisa Irvine passed away on 29th April 2026, aged 84 years. Deeply loved by her husband Bob and their children, grandchildren, and friends, Ann will be sadly missed and remembered with great fondness.

John Harold Bridger, 93 — Fencing Master
John Harold Bridger, Fencing Master, passed away at home surrounded by his family on 28th April 2026, aged 93. Formerly of Milton, Portsmouth, John had resided in Cowplain since 1967 and had dedicated much of his life to his community and family.
John served as Treasurer for the 1st Cowplain Scout Group, was a Fencing Coach at Merchiston Hall, and worked for Portsmouth United Ales — Brickwoods — Whitbread for 35 years. He was a devoted husband to Susan for 60 years, father to Martin, Katherine, Clare, Jonathan, and Rosemary, and grandfather to ten.
His funeral will be held at 10.30am on Tuesday 26th May at St Wilfrid’s Church, Padnell Road, Cowplain, with committal at noon at Milton Cemetery, Portsmouth. The wake will follow at the Good Companion, Eastern Road, Portsmouth, from noon until 3pm. Donations may be made via the Co-operative Funeralcare tribute page. He is sorely missed by all his family.
Bessie May ‘Betty’ Mills
Bessie May Mills, known to all as Betty, passed away peacefully on 12th May 2026. She was the beloved mother of Chris, Steve, and Nick, and the devoted wife of Alan.
Her funeral will be held at Portchester Crematorium on Thursday 28th May 2026 at 12.45pm. Betty will be deeply missed by her family, who have expressed their heartfelt gratitude for all she gave throughout her life.
