Three men remain in police custody following shoplifting incidents in Basingstoke. Officers arrested the suspects on 2 December after they reportedly attempted to steal from jewellery stores at Festival Place shopping centre using distraction methods.
Hampshire Constabulary responded to reports made around 1pm on Monday concerning three individuals targeting jewellers within the complex. Attempts were reportedly made at two separate jewellery retailers, with the group employing distraction techniques during the incidents.
Police attended the scene and detained the three men. A search uncovered a quantity of items suspected to have been stolen from Fan Club, a football memorabilia store located in the shopping centre.
The arrested individuals include a 28-year-old from Richmond, a 29-year-old from Barnet, and a 36-year-old from Warwick. All three have been arrested on suspicion of theft and remain in custody whilst enquiries continue.
