Protect Havant’s Children — We Can’t Afford to Wait

Every parent in Havant, Leigh Park, and Waterlooville knows the fear of wondering if their child is safe online. Grooming, bullying, and harmful content are not distant issues they are happening right here in our community.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve launched a local survey, contacted schools and academies, and written to the Home Office to demand urgent answers on child protection. I have also spoken to other parents, who are saying the same thing: too many feel ignored, unsupported, and left to cope on their own.

Reports and laws mean nothing if they don’t protect children in reality. The Online Safety Act was meant to put safeguards in place yet families still see their kids exposed to risk on platforms like Snapchat, TikTok, and Roblox with little effective protection.

This is not a party-political issue. It’s about the lives and futures of Havant’s children. Local families want action, not promises. It’s time for serious leadership, greater accountability from government, and more support for schools and parents.

We all want the same thing: to know that when our children go online, they are safe. Havant’s families deserve nothing less.

Yours sincerely,

Charles John Crespin
