Man charged with attempted murder after Southampton assaults

A 46-year-old Southampton man has been charged with attempted murder following serious assaults outside a supermarket in the Bevois area on Sunday afternoon, with multiple people threatened and two injured.

Hampshire Police were called shortly after 12:45pm on Sunday, 3rd August, following reports that several people had been threatened and two individuals sustained injuries outside a shop in Bevois Valley Road.

Azzedvie Mahmoudi, 46, from Cobbett Road, Southampton, has been charged with three counts of attempted murder, one count of attempted grievous bodily harm, three counts of threatening a person with a blade or sharply pointed article in a public place, and one count of possessing a blade or sharp pointed article in a public place.

Mahmoudi was remanded in custody to appear before Southampton Magistrates’ Court this morning (5th August).

Local neighbourhood policing teams have increased patrols in the area following the incident. Officers have advised residents with any concerns to approach patrol officers directly.

The charges relate to the Sunday afternoon incident in the Bevois Valley Road area, where police responded to reports of multiple threats and two people suffering injuries outside the retail premises.
