Portsmouth Faces Changeable Weather with Thursday Storms

Portsmouth faces a changeable week ahead with mostly cloudy conditions tonight, brief sunny spells developing Wednesday afternoon, and potential heavy thundery showers on Thursday, before brighter and drier weather returns for the weekend.

Tonight will be predominantly cloudy across Portsmouth with only limited clear breaks expected. Conditions will remain generally dry, though residents cannot rule out a few spots of light rain. Temperatures will drop to around 16°C with light winds persisting throughout the evening.

Tomorrow will start with extensive cloud cover and brief periods of sunshine. However, the late afternoon brings more promising conditions as it turns widely sunny for a time, with some cloud patches drifting back in during the evening hours. Maximum temperatures will reach a pleasant 25°C.

Thursday will see patchy cloud and sunny intervals, but showers will move in from the west. Some of these could be heavy and thundery, with temperatures reaching 25°C during the day before dropping to 14°C overnight.

Friday Weather in Portsmouth brings variable cloud cover and sunny spells, though there remains the possibility of occasional showers in places. Temperatures will be slightly cooler with highs of 24°C and overnight lows of 14°C.

Saturday looks set to be largely sunny and dry – the pick of the week for outdoor activities. Maximum temperatures will hold steady at 24°C with overnight temperatures dropping to 13°C.

Portsmouth’s tide times show the next low tide at 20:43 for Old Portsmouth Beach (Victoria Pier), whilst UV levels remain moderate and pollen counts are currently low across the area.

The changeable pattern reflects typical summer conditions for the south coast, with westerly winds bringing intermittent showers before high pressure builds for the weekend.
