Firefighters successfully tackled a kitchen blaze at student accommodation on Glen Eyre Road, Southampton yesterday evening. The fire was caused by combustible materials left on a hob.
Emergency crews from St Mary’s, Redbridge and Eastleigh stations responded to the incident shortly before 6pm yesterday. Upon arrival, they discovered smoke billowing from a first-floor kitchen within the student accommodation block.
Firefighters donned breathing apparatus before entering the affected kitchen, where they deployed hose reel jets to extinguish the flames. The blaze had been sparked by combustible materials that had been left on top of the hob.

Following the successful suppression of the fire, ventilation fans were utilised to clear smoke from the building. The emergency response concluded at approximately 6:30pm when crews returned to their respective stations.
