All traffic signals at Paulsgrove Junction near the Marriott Hotel have been replaced, ensuring smooth operation for the next 25 years. The final phase, involving road resurfacing, is underway with night-time closures in place for up to three weeks and diversions provided.

Colas is delivering this final stage of improvements, with a full closure of the junction during night hours only to ensure safety while works are completed.

In addition, essential repairs are set to begin soon on two bridges near the M27 Junction 12 Hilsea Interchange in Hampshire, locally known as the IBM bridges. These bridges, which carry the M27 carriageway eastbound and westbound near the Portsbridge Roundabout, will have their expansion joints replaced to accommodate temperature changes and traffic movement.

Further improvements will include replacing kerb drainage, upgrading drainage systems, re-waterproofing and resurfacing the bridge decks, and repairing concrete beneath both bridges. For safety, lane closures will be in place throughout June, July, and early August. This includes a 24/7 lane closure of the M275 northbound where it joins the M27 eastbound, starting 22 June for three weeks, and lane closures from 8pm Thursday to 6am Monday on the M27 westbound.

Some overnight, full carriageway closures are also planned for August, in one direction at a time to minimise disruption. From September to the end of November, full weekend closures will be required, again in one direction at a time. Updates with confirmed dates and details will be provided as the project progresses.

The installation of new expansion joints and re-waterproofing is expected to significantly extend the lifespan of the two bridges.
