Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in Southampton where a 31-year-old woman was punched and kicked after refusing to hand over her purse on Thursday morning.
Officers are seeking information about an incident that occurred between 7am and 7:30am on Thursday, 26th June, when the victim was walking along Houndwell Place beside the former Debenhams store.
A man approached the woman and demanded her purse. When she declined, he struck her in the face, causing her to fall to the ground before kicking her whilst she was down.
The victim subsequently handed over her purse before the attacker fled along Queensway. The stolen purse was yellow, approximately 15cm in length, and contained £100 in £20 notes along with several bank and store cards.
The woman sustained facial bruising and experienced pain in her hip and abdominal area following the attack.

Police are seeking to speak with a man described as: black, in his twenties, of slim but muscular build with a short beard. He was dressed in black clothing including a black top, black footwear and a black hat.
