Portsmouth bins to be collected earlier due to heat alert

Portsmouth City Council has announced that all waste collection rounds will begin earlier tomorrow morning due to an Amber heat health alert, allowing staff to avoid working during the hottest part of the day.

The council has requested residents to ensure their bins are ready for collection by 6am on their scheduled collection day, or alternatively, put them out after 7pm the evening before.

The earlier start time has been implemented as a precautionary measure to protect waste collection staff from the extreme temperatures expected during the amber weather warning period.

Residents are being asked to cooperate with the adjusted collection schedule to support the council’s efforts to maintain regular waste services whilst prioritising worker safety during the hot weather conditions.
