Portsmouth Armed Forces Day returns this Saturday 21 June on Southsea Common, featuring military parades, live entertainment, a Royal Navy parachute display, and a spectacular Spitfire demonstration from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight team.
The free community event runs from 10am to 4pm, bringing together residents and visitors to celebrate current and former armed forces personnel. No advance booking is required.
Key Highlights

The day’s centrepiece will be a full aerobatic display by a Spitfire aircraft, courtesy of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight team. Spectators can also witness the Royal Navy ‘Raiders’ parachute team in action.
Military Displays and Parades
The main arena will host a comprehensive military parade led by the Rose and Thistle Pipe Band. Additional attractions include:
- Static Gazelle helicopter display by 6 Regiment Army Air Corps Reserves
- Tactical wing supply demonstration from Joint Helicopter Group
- Field Gun Arena activities
- Veterans, charities and military organisation stalls
Entertainment Programme
Beyond the military demonstrations, families can enjoy dog shows and a dedicated BMX arena featuring tricks and jumps throughout the afternoon. A music stage will showcase performances from local acts all day.

Travel and Parking
Visitors travelling from outside Portsmouth can utilise the city’s Park and Ride service. Event sponsor Snows BMW and MINI Portsmouth will display electric vehicles from their range during the day.
