New 2,000-home development planned between Emsworth and Denvilles

Bloor Homes will reveal plans for a new 2,000-home community between Emsworth and Denvilles as public consultation begins, with drop-in events scheduled for local residents this week.

The housebuilder is preparing to share outline proposals for the Southleigh development through public consultation sessions, marking the first occasion residents can examine detailed plans for the site.

Havant Borough Council’s local plan has already designated the location for approximately 2,100 homes as part of the area’s development framework to address housing requirements and targets.

The proposed Southleigh development encompasses residential properties, retail outlets, a primary school, and a connecting road designed to support the borough’s housing objectives.

Located between Denvilles and Emsworth, the site lies north of the A27 and railway line, with Southleigh House, the Spire Hospital, and Oaks Havant Crematorium to the south. Southleigh Road runs east to west through the proposed development area.

Previously, no concrete proposals had been presented for the site, making these consultation sessions the initial opportunity for residents to learn specific details about the planned development.

Public consultation sessions:

Friday, June 13: 3pm to 7.30pm at Emsworth Baptist Church, North Street, Emsworth, PO10 7BY

Saturday, June 14: 10am to 3pm at Stride Centre, Daffodil Way, Denvilles, Havant PO9 2FA

According to Bloor Homes, the site offers sustainable positioning with excellent connections to cycling paths, public transport networks, educational facilities, recreational amenities, and employment opportunities. The consultation precedes the submission of a formal planning application.

Rebecca Fenn-Tripp, Planning Director at Bloor Homes, commented: “We are delighted to be bringing forward this site to deliver much-needed new homes and community facilities for Southleigh, in one of the few suitable areas in Havant borough given its constrained nature.

“We have designed this new community to be well connected, to promote active lifestyles, and provide considerable benefits to new and existing residents. We are championing convenient ways to travel without using a car, healthy lifestyles, and bringing together nature with personal wellbeing.

“Now it is the public’s turn to have their say on our proposals and offer any feedback to help us improve our designs before we submit an outline planning application to Havant Borough Council.”
