Travel improvements at the A3 Northern Parade and London Road junction have reached a milestone, with phase one now complete. The upgrades form part of Portsmouth’s Bus Service Improvement Plan, funded by the UK Government and delivered by Balfour Beatty.
The completed first phase brings immediate benefits to the busy junction, including enhanced road conditions for all users, improved drainage systems to mitigate flooding risks, and preparations for green spaces that will be planted in spring.
Phase two of the travel improvements at A3 Northern Parade and London Road junction is scheduled to commence on 6 January 2025. The upcoming works will introduce expanded bus lanes designed to enable faster departures, safer shared pathways for pedestrians and cyclists, additional greenery throughout the area, and comprehensive junction resurfacing with clearer road markings.
The improvements at the A3 Northern Parade and London Road junction aim to create better connectivity across Portsmouth whilst enhancing safety for all road users. The drainage enhancements will provide long-term flood prevention benefits for the surrounding area.
