Portsmouth forward Christian Saydee has completed his move to League One side Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed transfer fee, bringing his two-year stint at Fratton Park to an end.
The 23-year-old striker scored seven goals across 73 appearances after joining from Bournemouth during the summer of 2023.
Saydee played a role in Portsmouth’s remarkable League One title-winning campaign that season, helping secure the club’s return to Championship football after a 12-year absence.
Portsmouth manager John Mousinho commented: “Christian was a well-liked member of our squad and I’m certain he’ll be missed by the staff, players and supporters.
“He made valuable contributions over the past two seasons and was someone we were delighted to have at Fratton Park.
“However, he now hopefully has the opportunity to secure more consistent playing time and we didn’t wish to prevent that from happening.
“We’re grateful for everything he achieved whilst wearing a Portsmouth shirt and wish him all the best for his future career.”
The forward came through Bournemouth’s youth system before his arrival at Fratton Park, scoring his debut goal in a League Cup fixture against Peterborough.
Saydee’s maiden league goal for Portsmouth proved crucial, sealing victory against promotion competitors Oxford at home.
During the previous campaign, Saydee found the net three times, scoring twice in a draw at Middlesbrough before netting in the final day stalemate against Hull City.
This news came a few hours after the Pompey Signing of Australian Forward Segečić.
