Portsmouth Football Club have announced that teenage striker Harry Clout has secured his maiden professional contract with the Championship side following impressive performances throughout the campaign.
The young forward earned his senior bow in January when he appeared as a substitute during the FA Cup third-round tie against Wycombe Wanderers.
Manager John Mousinho subsequently included Clout in his matchday squads for Championship fixtures versus Luton Town, Middlesbrough and Bristol City.
Meanwhile, academy scholars Cody Howard, Jayden Keteku, Connor May and Luke Staight will depart the club after not receiving contract extensions.
Academy chief Greg Miller commented: “I would like to extend my best wishes to Cody, Jayden, Connor and Luke for their future endeavours.
“Their commitment during their scholarship period has been exemplary and I express gratitude to them on behalf of the entire staff.
“We are thrilled that, at the elite standard of Championship football, we have seen excellent displays and development from Harry, which has resulted in him receiving a professional contract.
“This caps off an outstanding campaign that witnessed him make his debut at Wycombe in the FA Cup. Whilst he merits recognition, I must also acknowledge the academy personnel who have supported his journey to this milestone.”
Pompey manager John Mousinho added: “Harry made a strong impression when he trained with the first team during the previous season and represents an exciting young talent.
“This professional contract is well-earned and we look forward to observing his continued development in the forthcoming weeks and months.”
