Pompey Partner with Frazer-Nash for Coaching Innovation

Portsmouth Football Club has partnered with local engineering consultancy Frazer-Nash to introduce cutting-edge technology solutions that streamline coaching processes, improve performance data workflows and enhance communication between coaching staff and players at Fratton Park.

The collaboration brings together expertise from defence, government and infrastructure sectors to revolutionise the first team coaching setup. Frazer-Nash worked alongside Pompey’s coaching staff and technical team to optimise systems and create more efficient working methods.

The partnership concentrated on enhancing four crucial aspects of coaching delivery: video analysis systems, player development programmes, on-field training methods and coach feedback mechanisms.

Advanced Power BI dashboards were implemented to automate performance data processing, delivering substantial time savings that allow coaches to dedicate more attention to player development activities.

The initiative also investigated innovative approaches to boost player engagement during training sessions whilst improving both the quality and regularity of coaching feedback.

Frazer-Nash brought additional expertise through behavioural science analysis, providing observations on team culture, player wellbeing and the physical environment where players and staff collaborate.

Portsmouth FC sporting director Richard Hughes commented: “We’ve thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with Dave and his team at Frazer-Nash.

“As a forward-thinking club, we value partnerships with pioneering organisations, expanding our knowledge of how advanced technology can benefit us and the advantages it delivers.

“Frazer-Nash’s assistance has helped us refine our systems, question our methods and ultimately provide more time for our staff to coach and engage with players. We’re excited to continue this partnership moving forward.”

Dave Conway, learning technologist at Frazer-Nash and project leader, said: “It’s been fantastic working with such a progressive and innovative club. Having an office in the local area, we’re delighted to continue supporting Pompey.”

The collaboration represents another demonstration of Portsmouth FC’s dedication to innovation and ongoing development, both on and off the field.
