South Korean winger Minhyeok Yang has revealed that John Mousinho’s passion and detailed presentation convinced him to join Portsmouth on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the new campaign.
The international attacker becomes another new recruit to be won over by the manager’s approach during the recruitment process.
Yang recognised Fratton Park as the perfect destination after discussions with Mousinho, having previously impressed during a similar loan spell at Queens Park Rangers last season.
The 19-year-old expressed his delight at the move: “I’m very happy to have joined a side like Pompey – my former team Gangwon was also by the sea.
“It is good because there are a lot of similarities and that makes me believe I can do really well at this club.
“I had a meeting with the manager and felt that he – and everyone here – specifically wanted me, so that’s why I chose to come here.”
Yang revealed the extent of Mousinho’s preparation had particularly impressed him during their talks.
“He watched me when I was playing for Queens Park Rangers last season and remembered the skills I had.
“Then when we spoke, he had done a PowerPoint presentation about me and talked in a detailed way about how I would be used in the team.
“I choose to join Pompey after hearing the enthusiasm he had for me and am very happy to have this new start.
“Now I want to help the team to have a successful season, whilst on a personal level, I want to play games and score goals.”
The winger completed his switch to the south coast shortly after returning from Tottenham’s pre-season tour of Asia.
Reflecting on his time with Spurs, Yang said: “I learnt a lot and was happy to have been given opportunities and experiences when I was with the side.
“Heung-min Son offered me a lot of support. He is a legend of the team and everyone respects him, so I listened to what he said.”
