Portsmouth Women have confirmed the acquisition of striker Jesse Woolley following her departure from Women’s Super League 2 rivals Bristol City at the conclusion of the 2024/25 campaign. The 24-year-old forward reunites with three former Bristol City colleagues at Pompey.
Woolley links up with Jazz Bull, Greta Humphries and Ella Rutherford on the south coast, having spent her entire career with the Robins until now.
The striker’s association with Bristol City began aged seven, progressing through their youth system before making her first-team debut in 2017. She netted her maiden senior goal against Sheffield United the following year.
During Bristol City’s 2020/21 Women’s Super League season, Woolley featured in nine fixtures. Her second-tier experience also includes a loan spell at Reading during the latter half of the 2023/24 campaign.
Pompey manager Jay Sadler expressed his satisfaction with the signing: “We’re delighted to bring Jesse to the club. Given our current injury situation, securing someone who can immediately strengthen the squad was crucial, and Jesse fits that requirement perfectly.
“Her experience at this level, having spent most of her career with Bristol City, is invaluable. She’s a genuinely personable character, so I’m confident she’ll integrate smoothly into the group.
“Her playing style brings composure to our game, and she’s consistently positive in her approach. She wants to play forward and contribute to both creating and scoring goals. We’re thrilled to have her on board.”
