Portsmouth City Council has pledged to Portsmouth end male violence against women and girls, marking White Ribbon Day on Monday, 25 November.
The White Ribbon accredited authority is spearheading citywide initiatives to confront harmful attitudes and foster community unity. Residents across Portsmouth are being urged to wear white ribbons and take the White Ribbon pledge—vowing never to commit, condone or stay silent about male violence towards women.
Cllr Steve Pitt, the council’s leader, stated: “Our White Ribbon accreditation demonstrates our dedication to transforming the attitudes and conduct that facilitate violence against women and girls. Every individual can contribute by promoting awareness and confronting abusive conduct. I urge Portsmouth’s men and boys to take the White Ribbon pledge—promising never to commit, condone or remain silent about violence towards women and girls”.
