Motorcyclist killed in Isle of Wight crash remembered fondly

A 58-year-old motorcyclist has died following a collision with a car on the Isle of Wight. Dave Rann was killed when his Kawasaki motorcycle collided with a Ford Kuga on Briddlesford Road.

Emergency services responded to the fatal crash at 3.12pm on Monday, 28th July, but Mr Rann could not be saved despite their efforts.

His family have released a heartfelt tribute, saying: “We are devastated to share the loss of Dave Rann.

“Dave was a cherished husband, devoted father, and dear friend whose kindness, generosity, and sense of humour enriched countless lives.

“A passionate motorcyclist with a love for the outdoors and strong community ties, he was known for his unwavering commitment to family and zest for life.

“We respectfully request privacy during this difficult time and ask that people avoid speculation, choosing instead to remember Dave as the caring, lively individual he was. We will share funeral details in due course.”

Mr Rann’s children also shared their grief: “Dad was our foundation and the centre of our family. His sudden loss has left us speechless with shock.

“Mum was also hurt in the accident and remains hospitalised. We’re forever grateful to the police, paramedics, fire brigade and air ambulance crews whose swift response prevented us from losing both parents. Their actions brought light to our darkest moment.

“Dad was extraordinary – always ready to help anyone in need. He was truly our hero.”

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone with relevant dashcam footage from the incident or beforehand.

Anyone with information should contact police online or call 101, quoting reference 44250338257.
