Born on 2 December 1948, Mark passed away peacefully on 30 January 2026, following a long illness with Alzheimer’s disease.
Mark had a lifelong love of reading and learning, and a deep connection to Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight. His working life took many forms: he was a social worker, teacher, editor of the Radio Victory Magazine, a founder member of the video games company Automata, a field interviewer for Ipsos, and later a tour guide on HMS Victory.
In his spare time, Mark enjoyed reading and walking, and volunteered for English Heritage. He had a particular interest in architecture and maritime heritage, and became a published author, writing two local history books that reflected his long-standing love of the area.
A service will be held at The Oaks Crematorium in Havant. Those who knew Mark and wish to attend are welcome to contact the crematorium for further details.
