Portsmouth Gym Hosts 24-Hour Charity Workout for Beth Martin Family

A Portsmouth gym launches a 24-hour charity workout today supporting the family of Beth Martin, the 28-year-old mother who died mysteriously in Turkey, with fundraising efforts already reaching £261,000.

The circumstances surrounding Beth’s sudden death remain unclear after she travelled to Istanbul on 27th April with her husband Luke and their two children, aged five and eight. The Portsmouth mother fell ill upon arrival and passed away just two days later.

The tragic events have prompted extraordinary support from the Portsmouth community and beyond, with the fundraising campaign now totalling an impressive £261,000.

Anytime Fitness Cosham is organising the 24-hour fitness event, which begins today at 2pm and continues until 2pm tomorrow. The gym welcomes both members and non-members to participate, asking only for voluntary donations.

The fitness centre stated: “We’re reaching out not just as a local business, but as an integral part of our proud community. The devastating story of this family’s unimaginable loss in Turkey has deeply affected us all.

“We’re hosting this 24-hour charity workout at our gym to support Beth Martin’s family – a young Portsmouth mother who tragically died whilst on holiday in Turkey.

“Her sudden passing has left behind a grieving family, including two young children, now confronting unthinkable difficulties. This event represents our way of standing beside them – and we would welcome your support in making it genuinely impactful.”

The gym will run continuous classes, workouts, and community activities throughout the 24-hour period, welcoming everyone regardless of fitness experience. Organisers emphasise that any donation amount, even £1, can contribute meaningfully to the family’s support.

Additional ways to support the event include donating raffle prizes, providing refreshments for participants, or helping spread awareness. The gym plans to acknowledge all supporters through social media and during the event itself.

The charity workout takes place from Friday 13th June at 2pm through to Saturday 14th June at 2pm.
