Portsmouth is set to build a fresh playground at Bransbury Park this summer as part of an ambitious new community hub combining sports, swimming and healthcare facilities.
The modern play area will be constructed in the southwestern section of the playing field, featuring equipment designed to cater for children of all ages and abilities, including those with disabilities.
Council planners have prioritised creating a space that is both safe and stimulating, with attractions ranging from toddler-friendly springers to an exciting zip wire for older children. The new facility aims to provide engaging options for youngsters aged one to twelve whilst ensuring comfortable viewing areas for supervising adults and families.
Construction is scheduled to begin during the summer months, with completion expected before year-end. The current playground will continue operating throughout the build period until the replacement facility opens fully.
Equipment highlights include:
- Multi-seat swing sets featuring basket swings and inclusive seating options
- Viking ship-themed climbing structure for younger children
- Rotating disc and spinning pole attractions
- Junior climbing multi-play unit
- Zip wire spanning the play area
- Ground-level trampoline
- Traditional see-saw equipment
- Age-appropriate springers
The playground forms part of Portsmouth’s broader Bransbury Park development, which will establish a comprehensive community hub bringing together recreational, fitness and health services under one roof.
Residents with questions or feedback about the playground project can contact the development team directly at bransburypark@portsmouthcc.gov.uk.
The new facility has been designed to complement the surrounding parkland whilst providing an attractive, accessible space for local families to enjoy year-round.
