Sixty firefighters battled a blaze at a Basingstoke sports club during the early hours of Monday morning, with crews from multiple stations mobilised shortly after 5am to tackle the well-alight building.
Fire crews from Basingstoke, Overton, Tadley, Eastleigh, Kingsclere, Winchester, Sutton Scotney, Rushmoor, Alton and SHQ responded to the incident at the sports facility on Pack Lane.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the building fully engulfed in flames. Teams equipped with breathing apparatus worked to contain the fire and prevent it spreading to surrounding areas, utilising hose reels and jets alongside specialist equipment.
The operation was supported by an aerial ladder platform, water carriers and other specialist appliances as crews fought to bring the substantial blaze under control.
Fire services received the stop message at 9am, confirming the incident had been successfully contained after a four-hour operation involving approximately 60 personnel.
Fire investigation officers are scheduled to attend the scene later today to establish the cause of the blaze at the Pack Lane sports club.
