Nine primary and secondary schools in the Portsmouth area have been awarded new Ofsted ratings following inspections conducted in May 2025, with most receiving positive assessments from education regulators.
Monthly Ofsted reports are released after inspections of educational establishments nationwide, evaluating schools across key criteria including quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, plus early years provision.
The following nine educational institutions in Portsmouth and surrounding areas received their updated ratings during May:
Hambledon Primary School in Church Lane, Hambledon, achieved a positive outcome in its inspection report published on 6th May 2025.

St Peter’s Catholic Primary School in Stakes Hill Road, Waterlooville, also secured a positive result in its recent assessment.

Holbrook Primary School on Wych Lane, Gosport, received positive feedback in its report published on 7th May 2025.

Solent Junior School in Portsmouth obtained a positive rating following its inspection published on 7th May 2025.

The Waterloo School earned a ‘good’ Ofsted rating, with inspectors noting that ‘pupils are exuberantly proud of’ the institution. The report was published on 12th May 2025.

King’s Academy Gomer in Pyrford Close, Gosport, achieved a positive result in its recent evaluation.

Springfield School in Portsmouth was described as an ‘inclusive school, where leaders strive to ensure that every pupil feels valued’ according to the report published on 21st May 2025.

Ark Dickens Primary Academy received a ‘good’ Ofsted rating following its inspection published on 22nd May 2025.

Peel Common Primary School and Nursery has shown ‘positive’ improvements, though the latest Ofsted report suggests the school could continue developing further. The inspection report was published on 22nd May 2025.
