Waleed Alharbi has been convicted of raping a woman at his Portsmouth flat following a trial at Winchester Crown Court.
A jury found the 26-year-old guilty of rape and attempted rape on Tuesday, 2 December, following a seven-day trial. Alharbi, of Greetham Street in Portsmouth, had denied both charges.​
The incident occurred during the early hours of Saturday, 28 June, when a woman in her 30s was attacked at an address on Greetham Street. The court heard that Alharbi, a Saudi Arabian national studying at a language school at the time, encountered the victim at The Astoria nightclub on Guildhall Walk. He subsequently brought her to his address where the assault took place.​
Alharbi has been remanded in custody and will appear at Winchester Crown Court for sentencing on Tuesday, 9 December.
