A 44-year-old Southampton man has been arrested following a sexual assault investigation in Shirley. Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman in her 20s reported being assaulted at Tesco Express on Shirley Road on 22 August.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:30pm when the victim reported that a man made inappropriate sexual remarks towards her and touched her breasts inside the supermarket.
Officers have arrested a Southampton resident on suspicion of sexual assault in connection with the incident. The suspect has been released on bail until 29 December whilst police continue their enquiries.
Police have issued a description of the man involved in the incident:
- Mixed race
- Approximately 5ft 9ins in height
- Average build
- Wearing a blue coat, cream trousers, and sliders without socks
- Short beard with grey and black hair
- Very short curly grey hair
- Noticeable cut or sore beside his left nostril
