A Ringwood man has been sentenced to ten weeks in prison after pleading guilty to assault and shoplifting charges following an incident at a local Tesco Express store.
Quincy Rufus Digby Hopkins, aged 27, of Queens Way, received his sentence when he appeared before Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (25 June).
The charges relate to an incident at Tesco Express on Butlers Lane, which occurred shortly before 11pm on Sunday (22 June), where Hopkins stole items and assaulted a member of staff.
In addition to his prison sentence, Hopkins has been ordered to pay £125 in compensation to the victim.
Police are encouraging shop owners and staff members to continue reporting any incidents they experience.
