A woman in her 40s has died in Portsmouth with two men arrested on suspicion of murder following the discovery of her body at a Southsea address in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The woman was found deceased at a property on Hollam Road after police received a welfare concern call at 2:33am on 21st June. Officers are treating her death as suspicious whilst investigations continue.
Two suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the incident. A 42-year-old Southsea man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, whilst a 39-year-old from Gosport faces charges of both murder and obstructing a police constable in the execution of their duties.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed both men have been released on conditional bail until 21st September as enquiries progress.
A force spokesperson stated: “Officers attended Hollam Road following concerns for a woman’s welfare. Tragically, a woman in her 40s was declared dead at the scene. Her family have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.
“We are working to establish exactly what occurred, with the death currently being investigated as suspicious. Two arrests have been made as part of our ongoing enquiries.”
