Man charged over Sarisbury Green hit-and-run incident

A 24-year-old man has been charged following a hit-and-run collision in Sarisbury Green that left a pedestrian with serious injuries. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday 29 May on Montefiore Drive.

Police were alerted shortly after 3:00am to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle that failed to remain at the scene.

The victim, a 38-year-old man, was transported to Southampton General Hospital where he continues to receive treatment for serious injuries that could be life-changing. Medical staff describe his condition as stable.

Two men sentenced for knife and bottle assault in Gosport

James Varol, aged 24, from Sawpit Rise in Whiteley, faces multiple charges including causing grievous bodily harm with intent, dangerous driving, and failing to stop and report an accident. He has been remanded in custody and appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates Court today (Wednesday 4 June).

As part of the ongoing investigation, two 15-year-old males from Fareham and Hedge End were arrested yesterday and have since been released on bail. They are required to return on 2 and 3 September respectively whilst enquiries continue.

Additionally, two 18-year-old men who were initially detained in connection with the investigation have been released without any charges and will not face further police action.
