A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a serious assault in Park Gate on Saturday evening. The victim, aged 20, remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police were alerted shortly after 6pm on Saturday, 15 November, to reports of a serious assault on Hunts Pond Road in Park Gate.
Emergency services attended the scene and the 20-year-old victim was transported to hospital by ambulance for treatment. His injuries were initially described as serious and possibly life-threatening.
The victim remains hospitalised and his condition is now described as stable.
A 21-year-old man from Fareham was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody.
District Commander Chief Inspector Marcus Kennedy said: “We understand that this incident will have caused significant concern in the community and we want to reassure you that we believe this to be an isolated incident, and that there is no wider threat to the public.
“An investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances and Hunts Pond Road remains closed whilst our officers are in the area carrying out enquiries. If you have any concerns, please speak to an officer.”
