A 39-year-old man from Emsworth has been arrested following a police stop in Fareham on suspicion of drug driving and various motoring offences after testing positive for cannabis during a roadside test.
Police officers pulled over the driver during the early hours of Saturday morning (7 June) in the Fareham area, where he subsequently failed a roadside drugs test.
According to a statement released by Fareham Police on social media, the incident revealed multiple violations. The force reported: “A 39-year-old man from Emsworth was stopped whilst driving in Fareham.
“The man was discovered to be carrying cannabis and returned a positive result for cannabis in his system following the roadside drugs test. The vehicle he was operating had no valid insurance or MOT certificate, and the driver’s licence had previously been disqualified.
“The individual was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst exceeding the prescribed cannabis limit, and has been reported for operating a vehicle without insurance, without an MOT, and whilst disqualified.”
Police also confiscated the man’s vehicle under section 165 of the Road Traffic Act.
