Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman in her 40s was assaulted in Binstead on Saturday evening. The incident occurred between 7:30pm and 8:30pm near Jellicoe Road and Broadway Crescent on 6 December.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has launched an investigation into the assault in Binstead and is urging anyone who was in the vicinity during the timeframe to come forward.
Officers have arrested a 32-year-old man from Ryde in connection with the assault in Binstead. He has been detained on suspicion of intentional strangulation and common assault.
The suspect has been released on bail with conditions until 6 March 2026 whilst enquiries into the assault in Binstead continue.
Investigators are keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the assault in Binstead or noticed anything suspicious in the Jellicoe Road and Broadway Crescent area on Saturday evening.
Police are particularly interested in obtaining CCTV footage, dashcam recordings, mobile phone videos, or doorbell camera footage that may have captured the incident.
